Recap of the past couple of weeks

Things have been kind of slow. But I have found things of things that I want. The usual can situation. In two weeks of can collecting, I've gotten 13 dollars. I think I'll save that money for something for I dunno.

I also found a computer lying by a dumpster but what I was really interested in was the hard drive. Sadly, the hard drive seems to be malfunctioning, but hey still free RAM.

What I really am excited about was I found some discarded canvas someone one through out in the art building. Must have gotten frustrated with it and wanted to rid themselves of it. But probably 25 dollars worth of good canvas. Wooo!

I've had a bike tire malfunction, so I will probably take it easy on the scrounging till I can get new tubes. *sigh* Damn you weak-butt treads!

Pay Day

Well I went to a scrapyard near by and exchanged my cans for cash. 6 dollars for three day's work. Okay, not a whole three days, I wasn't that diligent. But hey, 6 dollars is pretty good for soda cans, I think.

The scrapyard was a different slice of life all together. I was greeted by a big old dog that paced around the dirt floor. Guys soiled in automotive grease flung pipes and hubcaps all around. And in the background, washer machines were being torn apart by a small crane like machine.

I got in Trouble

Haha, interesting turn of events took place. But before the action, I went around campus collecting cans out of trash cans on the way to class. In two days of collecting, I've amassed nearly 150 aluminum can, and I haven't even scratched the surface! Bad news.

Then after things cooled down I went out on bike travel to get the good stuff. Under the shade of night and seeing with my new headlamp, I scrounged around numerous dumpsters. I ended up finding a metal tube that I gave to a fellow artist who could use such things and I found a reflective care thing you put on the dash. On my way home I found a trash pile with what I thought was a drum (and I could really use one!) but, alas, it was just the case. The case kinda looked beat down and I don't have the space for it so I had to get rid of it. Sad.

But the highlight was when I was walking back from the art building around midnight. I must of looked suspicious with my painty clothes and rummaging through the trash. I had to give him my drivers license, but I cleared. Yeah I got to go home!

Lots of Beer Cans

Yesterday I went out on a trash mongerin'. Mainly I was out for aluminum cans to sell, but I had some interesting finds along the way.

First, I hit the trash bin by my apartment and ran into some bags of trash from a party that kept me up last night. Lots of aluminum beer cans not being recycled. Tsk tsk! Oh the youth of today, partying and not recycling. By the end of an hour long trash trek I gathered enough cans to over fill a 5 gallon bucket.

I tried to go on my university campus to see if there'd be any neat electronics, but no such luck for me. I couldn't even find the dumpsters! They must hide them from people like me. Why!?!

I guess though the highlights of the day were a pair of shoes discarded in a trash can by a side walk and shortly after that a CD that has weird christian music it on it. But I also think it was a training thing for some sort of mission. I don't know! But they talked about touching poor people a lot :o.
